Walt's Caravan Bird Feeder
WHAT YOU NEED:
- 1 piece of
10mm Ply wood
- Handsaw
or Jigsaw
- Drill +
Screws
- Wire
- Dowel
- Plastic
milk bottles
- Paints +
Paintbrushes
- Marking
tape
- Walt's template. Download it HERE!
WHAT TO DO:
1. Use Walter’s template to draw the parts of
the caravan onto your plywood, then with the help of an adult you can either
hand saw or use a jigsaw to cut them out.
2. Screw together the sides to the bottom. Then
screw in your front and back and roof parts.
3. Cut your
plastic milk bottle into a nice long length that fits the curved roof section
and screw in place (you’ll need to straighten out the curves in the plastic- it
will hold nicely when screwed down)
4. For the
perch, drill two holes in the dowel (see the diagram to get an idea of where)
wrap your wire through the holes and around the dowel and secure the wire to
the base of the caravan with scrap pieces of wood.
5. Then paint! To
make the straight lines of the caravan I used tape and then peeled it off to
reveal nice ‘flush’ lines after painting.
NOTE: HERE AND
THERE YOU MAY NEED TO SLIGHTLY CHANGE THE MEASUREMENTS TO MAKE EVERYTHING FIT
SNUG!
