If you're a Top Model fan, then you know what episode two means – makeover time! Last cycle Tyra dubbed the makeovers, "Ty-overs", this season she is calling it the...
Shake-over!
In the words of Annaliese, this cycle's makeovers are all about "fierce, fabulous, ‘freaky-deaky' hair". Taking inspiration from the European catwalks, the girls will be sporting edgier looks from playing around with unconventional hair colours to getting creative with a razor.
The Good: Sophie looks surprisingly stunning for someone in cotton candy pink hair and bleached eyebrows! Laura's patriotic new look definitely looks way better than her originally muddy, crimped and frizzy hair. I also really like AzMarie's Top Model designed buzz cut – I was wondering what they could possibly have planned for her!
The Bad: Eboni, Kyle and Mariah all got bangs. I don't get why three girls got very similar looks. Sophie points out later that they will have to work harder to stand out and I agree. Let the battle of the bangs begin!
The Ugly: Every cycle there has to be at least one girl who gets really upset during their makeover. I have to say that in all the cycles, I really think Louise is probably the most argumentative and disrespectful. These people are at the top of their field and give $850 haircuts to celebrities! I know I can't say from experience but I would think you could trust that they would know best.
Challenge – "Eat that Delicacy"
This week the contestants had a rather odd challenge. A spread of each country's local delicacies was waiting for them in the Top Model house and their task was to eat the other team's food.
I think Team US definitely pulled the short straw here! While the UK girls had to deal with corn on the cob and peanut butter (with pig's feet being the worse thing on the table), the poor US girls had to down haggis and blood sausage. Gag.
Photo Shoot – "Meet the Kardashian Toddlers"
The girls play toddlers to Kris Jenner, the ultimate "mom-ager" and mother of the famous Kardashian sisters. As Mr. Jay says, it's the Kardashians meets the Addams family, avant-garde style. Loved the hilarious commentary between Sophie and Ashley – they should so have their own show!
The Good: My favourite photo was the shot of the trio. Loved Laura's upside-down "broken doll" pose which perfectly emulated the "creepy baby" in Kris' hands (although this was probably just coincidental and good timing!). I also really liked Ashley's demure shot with the lollipop.
The Bad: Getting called first last week clearly has gone to Seymone's head. Her shot was uninspiring and just plain dull. She literally just sat there looking pretty, not even trying to work any angles.
The Ugly: My least favourite was Eboni and Candace's photo. It looked more Kardashians meets the hood?! I really didn't like Candace's scowl – there's a sort of pout that models do that looks angry but (in Tyra's words) "fierce" but she just looked angry. Or that she was sucking on something sour.
Judging – Personality versus Pretty
Louise's condescending and arrogant attitude is really starting to irritate me and the judges are definitely starting to catch wind of it too. Luckily her managing to look good eating baby food trumped her chewing her nails in front of the judges.
Team UK definitely made a comeback this week, with the most improved going to Ashley – from second last to second best! I do agree with who got sent home but judging by the previews for next week, perhaps Tyra should install a spy cam in the house so she can see the girls in their "true colours" too...
