UK drama Skins is written by young people for young people. The average age of the writing team is 21 and includes teenage consultants.
The cast changes over every two seasons when the characters leave high school. Bryan Elsley, creator of the show says it was a risky decision to change the cast but they did it anyway.
“There are risks associated with dumping a cast, but we just did it. There was some disquiet at the channel, but then they told us just to go with it.”
"The first year is about getting to know the kids, and the second gives us the advantage of being able to explore their psyches a little more," says Elsley.
Season 6 of the UK teen drama features new friendships, secret relationships and sexual awakening. Plus bonds between the characters will be tested.
Dakota Blue Richards, Will Merrick, Alex Arnold, Sean Teale, Laya Lewis, Jessica Sula, Freya Mavor and Sebastian DeSouza return for series 6.
