Kansas City native tasked with moving to India to run the call center for Mid America Novelties. His biggest challenge, other than adjusting to the heat and cuisine, is explaining American culture to his Indian staff.
Actor bio:
Ben Rappaport stars in NBC's new comedy series Outsourced as Todd Dempsy, a young, top American salesman who has been reassigned to run an outsourced call center in India for Mid America Novelties, a catalog-based company that sells kitschy American novelties. Having never ventured out of the country, Todd is unprepared for the culture shock.
However, he soon finds his "family" and a place to call home, all while teaching his new Indian employees how to think, speak and breathe American.
Rappaport is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School's Drama Division, where he received the Drama Division's highest honor, the Michel and Suria Saint-Denis Prize.Rappaport starred in the off-Broadway production of "The Gingerbread House" at stageFARM at Rattlestick. His regional credits include "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson" and "Paradise Now" at the Williamstown Theatre Festival; "Twelfth Night" at The Actor Factory; and "Best of Shakespearean Romance" at the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Rappaport has also worked with the Red Bull Theater, Ars Nova, Naked Angels, The Actors Studio, and New Dramatists.
His credits at Juilliard include the Narrator in Stravinsky's "Soldier's Tale" conducted by James Conlon; Andrey in "The Three Sisters"; Weston Hurley in "Fifth of July"; and Sir Toby Belch in "Twelfth Night."
