* On playing Veronica:
"She really doesn't care about how other people feel or how they interpret what she's saying. That's what is so fun for me, because I'm always worried about how I'm coming off or if someone will be offended by something I've said."
* On herself compared to Veronica:
"I'd rank my career as a good, healthy third of my life. It's important, and without this third, I wouldn't feel whole. But it's not important for me to be engaged in it 12 months of the year. I need to find my projects and I need to feel like I'm being challenged and I need to feel creative. But when this is over, I'll be just as happy to ride my horses and paint."
* On Veronica's personality:
"I’ve got to tell you, Veronica is my favourite character I’ve ever played, bar none. I’m really attracted to strong women… let me rephrase that [laughs]… Strong female characters. And I love her sensibility. I love how cold and uncaring she appears to be and how focused she is. She’s a very fun, interesting character to play."
* On why she chose comedy:
"I’m Australian and I grew up watching the BBC and John Cleese and Monty Python and all of those people… it’s kind of what I thought was funny growing up and I just love those crazy characters!"
* On the failed legalisation of same sex marriage in Australia:
"I always thought Australia would pass this equal rights law long before America would. I'm a little bit disappointed with the new prime minister. I'm hoping that Australia will be a leader on this."
