Day 3 of NZFW and I'm refreshed and ready to devote the next 20 mins to my first review of the day Salasai. Salasai is a designer I'm not too familiar with but with a name that exotic I could almost mistake it for the names of one of my aunties!
There are plenty of 'A's and 'I's in the Samoan language so its easy to get it twisted. However, the clothing and the theme are a far cry from the Savaii beaches of where my ancestors once lay.
The Salasai collection was reminiscent of 'cowboy Western meets Aztec Moroccan patterns'. The mix of these tonesd used dark shades of blue, maroon and brown as their main colour of interest.
Vying for the more synthetic materials and a lot of sheer fabric, the collection took lemonade yellows to the more traditional white. This then faded into a collection of more solid blacks and maroon coloured materials such as leather.
I absolutely loved the wool knitted over sized tops on the girls and guys. The clothes were absolutely beautiful, however I do wish there was little something extra within this collection to give me a bit of shock and surprise. At times I did feel a little plateaued by it all.
Apart from that, the hair and make was as dramatic as it would ever get in the last few minutes of the show.
