Jeff was born in 1953 in Casino Northern NSW and has one brother and two sisters. The family ran a department store in Casino, The Kwong Sing Emporium.
Jeff is a keen surfer and spent most of his youth either on a surfboard or playing piano with brother Hilton who played bass. Apart from the family business, Jeff’s first job was in the parcel pick up of Grace Bros Store in Sydney.
Jeff obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design. He moved to Sydney where he set up a PA Business with his brother. He would hire out sound systems to most of the local Sydney bands while he played piano in Sydney’s best rockabilly band The Roadmasters. While playing for the Roadmasters he first met Anthony and his brothers who would regularly go to see his band play. They told Jeff that the food was better at the university functions their band played and so lured by the promise of great desserts,
Jeff joined their pop band The Cockroaches. The band made the charts, toured the country and spent years together as a band. When they stopped touring, Jeff was asked by Anthony to come down to the studio to help him record an album of music for children. Jeff was renovating his house at the time and asked "How long will it take?" Fifteen years later, he has his answer.
