Mike Character Biography

Mike Chang is a member of both the McKinley High School football team and the glee club. And although he enjoys singing, his talents lie mainly in his extraordinary dance skills. He is not-so-lovingly referred to as "The Other Asian" by Sue Sylvester.

Mike signs up for glee club after Kurt gives the football team dance lessons to improve their game. Discovering his love of movement and his natural ability, he risks losing popularity to join the group. He even chooses glee over football when Coach Tanaka gives the boys an ultimatum to pick one over the other - a demand he rescinds when they all pick glee.

At sectionals, the members of New Directions are forced to come up with alternate routines on the spot because Sue has given their original set list to the competition. Mike steps up and choreographs a dance number to help lead his team to victory.

Over the summer break, Mike and Tina start dating after spending more time together in their roles as counselors at "Asian Camp." Tina is mostly attracted to Mike's abs, which he gladly exposes at every possible opportunity.
