Are you one of those people that cannot resist an unattended cookie? You may want to control your urges after this episode.
An unexpected robbery at a local tea and spice shop brings Nick back to what turns out to be the Wesen apothecary from a few episodes back. Freddy, the Fuschbau shopkeeper unfortunately gets shot dead when he tries to stop the burglars, a pair of Skalengecks, a lizard-like Wesen who are after "J", a Wesen drug similar to meth.
Looks like Wesen have their vices too! Complete with smoking horn-like pipes called Saugendampf and an entire illicit crackhouse, known as Trauminsel. I really like these Wesen-human crossovers that keep cropping up. It's almost like, disturbingly enough, apart from the shapeshifting, Wesen really aren't all that different from humans, are they?
Hank, Monroe and most recently Juliette have all faced danger of the Wesen kind as Nick's two identities increasingly blur and the creature community get more and more threatened by having a Grimm in their midst. This week we Hexenbiest Adalind Schade is back and together with Captain Renard they device a plan on getting to Nick through Hank.
Adalind seduces Hank with Zaubertrank, a kind of love potion that causes an emotional response and obsessive behaviour which she cleverly mixes in with cookies for Hank. The way to a man's heart is through his stomach right? Sergeant Wu unwittingly gets involved when he sneakily eats a cookie. He gets a severe allergic reaction as the potion was made to only work on Hank.
Joining Nick and Monroe on Wesen detective business this week is Rosalee Calvert, Freddy's sister. She seemed genuinely intrigued by Nick's dual identity and even moreso that he has a working undercover relationship with Monroe. With her deciding to take over running the apothecary, I have a feeling we will be seeing more of her in coming episodes. There is a clear spark between her and Monroe so I sense a budding romance on the horizon for our trusty Blutbad!
Meanwhile Bud, the refridgerator repairman, and one of a group of Eisbiber that had been spying on Nick and Juliette returns again to make amends with the couple. Something tells me Juliette might do some more detective work of her own if Bud keeps bringing gifts.
At the end of this episode, I am left with two concerns. First, what is going to happen to Hank as he falls deeper under Adalind's spell? And second, has there been any lasting damage to Sergeant Wu? He is last seen eating sofa foam – not a good sign!
