Glee Blog: Dynamic Duets

If you were part of the Secret Society of Super Heroes what would you alter ego name be and what special power would you possess?  This season just keeps getting better and better and for me, this is my favourite episode so far!

Glee-tastic

1. The New Directions in costume is always a fun and hilarious sight to behold!  Loved the alter ego names and special powers; "Asian Persuasion" was my favourite.  And I thought "wheelies" closely followed by Joe's "lashing you with my dreads" were the best special powers out of the group.

2. I am really enjoying the development of Finn's character this season.  This week he starts officially as the unofficial glee club musical director and understandably things start off a little rocky.  As the saying goes though, it's not how you start but how you finish.  I loved the idea he had to pair up the "mortal enemies" within the club in an effort to bring the group together.

3. Even though they are the New Directions' rivals, it was nice to see The Warblers again and the reformed (so he says – I'm not entirely convinced!) Sebastian Smythe.  We get introduced to their new captain, the "not even remotely bicurious" Hunter Clarington – complete with white Persian cat ala Cee Lo Green!  He doesn't seem as mean spirited and cunning as Sebastian was but I do sense that Hunter is someone that would be easily play dirty to get ahead.

4. It's all fun and games with the super hero theme but glee club newbie Ryder actually has a real life secret identity.  I think it's really brilliant that Ryan Murphy is using Glee as a platform to be a voice for the many different issues, struggles and minorities that don't get represented often onscreen.  Dyslexia is definitely a good one and is especially fitting within the school context and I thought Blake Jenner did an excellent job conveying Ryder's pain and frustration.

5. I really enjoyed all the musical numbers this week.  In a way, having Rachel Berry – and to a certain extent Mercedes as well – out of the picture is a good thing as the songs are now more about the group and there is now much more opportunity for everyone to shine.  Although I must say I'm a little disappointed that Tina is still being neglected...

6. Another character who is developing really nicely this season is Sam.  He is someone I wouldn't have foreseen captaining the glee club but now I can see why.  I love the close friendship he has formed with Blaine and just how supportive he is.

Glee-sastrous

1. Blaine almost leaving the New Directions to rejoin The Warblers – to be honest, I fully thought he would do it!  Glad he didn't in the end...phew.

2. Kitty being fake friends with Marley and still encouraging the bulimia.  The saddest thing about this is that Marley is totally buying in to the fakery.

My Glee Forecast

1. New Directions take the win in Sectionals!

2. I sense there may possibly be a reunion of sorts in the spirit of Thanksgiving...

This Week's Glee Playlist

1. Dark Side – Kelly Clarkson

2. Superman – R.E.M.

3. Holding Out For A Hero – Bonnie Tyler

4. Heroes – David Bowie

5. Some Nights – fun.
