To be on Glee, you have to be a triple threat. So far the contestants' singing and dancing abilities have been put to the test. With the finale just around the corner there's just one key skill left that they must prove they have. In the words of Ali, "if you can't act, then you shouldn't be on Glee".
I really liked the twist of having the (act on) cue cards as a way of incorporating this week's theme into the homework assignment. Like guest mentor Dianna Agron, I too thought Michael did really well in conveying determination. In fact I actually thought he did better than Blake. I don't know how he still got positive feedback when he wasn't anywhere close to looking angry!
Who loves Pink's Perfect? Such a great song! I thought it was really cool that instead of the usual music video for their group number they got to shoot a movie trailer instead. Each contestant got given a character with a story arc and each one of their characters were linked some way or another. They really had their work cut out for them; I could barely keep up with the connections!
I was mildly impressed by all of them; they all managed to tap into their inner actor and brought out some really great performances. Blake's acting experience definitely shone through. He has definitely been the likeable "sweetheart" of the group this season so it made perfect sense for him to be given the jerk role to see if he could become "Darth Blake".
When the mentors got all emotional just before the bottom three reveal, I was so sure that the contestants were all just going to get a free pass to the finals. Instead they all get to perform for Ryan! I suppose it's fair since nobody actually performed poorly this week.
With the writing team present at the last chance performances as well, the pressure was definitely on. Apart from Ryan, I'd have to say these are the people you really want to impress. If they are not inspired to write a character for you then you really don't stand a chance of getting on to the show.
So what do we think Gleeks? Who's going to be the new addition to the Glee family? I've never liked Aylin so I don't want her to win but she brings a unique story and I do think having a Muslim character in the mix would be refreshing. I really want Ali to win but I highly doubt they would want to write in another character in a wheelchair. So my money's on Blake.
